Mt. Tamalpias is a great outdoor activity within just a few miles of San Francisco via the Golden Gate Bridge. In the last 100 years Tamalpias has been many things including a military observation post because] of its 2,572 ft. (785 meters) elevation above sea level, a high point in the California coastal ranges. There are over 100 miles of trails for hiking, bike riding, horse back riding. There are varying degrees of difficulty. The views to the West are of the Pacific Ocean, and the East side of the San Francisco Bay.
